Sandhill Paints is owned and operated by Gary and Shirley Nickles. We are located on our Family Farm just outside of San Antonio, in La Vernia, Texas. We started breeding American Paint Horses 4 years ago, when we wanted to breed our mares and couldn't find a stallion that fit our requirements.

We purchased our stallion, Smokin Sawyer and after several months of training, introduced him to our extended family.

Our mares have been carefully picked and all have a quiet temperament, solid and proven breeding, color and conformation. They are, as I said, part of the family. We breed so that the foals arrive after the threat of a freeze is gone, so that they have the freedom to run in the pastures and enjoy the fresh coastal grass growing. We are not a large breeding farm and limit the number of foals each year, so that we have the time to work and socialize with them everyday. When you meet our "gang" and purchase your next horse, you will be taking home a horse or foal, that is people oriented but respectful, current on all of their shots, loads, leads and are good with their feet.

Kicker is a handsome Dun Tobiano Colt that was born on May 1, 2009. He is out of our Bay Tobiano Mare, Tardys Triple Zip, APHA 810184 and our Dun Tobiano Stallion, Smokin Sawyer, APHA 601909. He is straight in the leg, big-boned and should mature to at least 15 hands. Kicker is marked beautifully, has seal point ears, zippers around his color and a dorsal stripe running thru his color. He has some of the best in his bloodline, Zippo Pine Bar, Tardy Too, the great Joe Reed, Jose Uno, Smokin Jose and thats just to name a few. 'Windy'

She spends most of her day running circles around her mom and has already started nibbling on grain at feeding time.
